OC-tober Day 6: Past

I’m spending this week to try and flesh out these new characters of mine so here’s Vinum and Revati again. More for the prompt under the cut

Reminder: Vinum is the princess/gal and Revati is the creature/lad.

Vinum was sent away from her kingdom as a child. For reasons I haven’t fleshed out yet, she ended up being left alone in a tower with the vague promise that someone will come back for her after things in the kingdom are sorted out. But time passed and she was just left alone. And that’s incredibly hard to deal with as a young child.

After some time passed, a magical creature, called a deity in this universe, moved in on the tower’s territory. This is a naturally curious being and coming across a tower with a lone girl in it was interesting. So naturally, this deity started hanging around more, enjoying the company and having a home they could settle in.

The deity, naming itself Revati after spending some time with Vinum, ended up living with Vinum full time and they work together in their own little environment.

They slept together not long after Zuko had been rescued from Ba Sing Se and returned home. Later, Mai would loftily tell Ty Lee that it was because they understood each other in a mature way, that they didn’t need a lot of time before they knew it was right. The truth was, they were both young and lonely, touch-starved and stewing in lascivious hormones. They had barely been able to keep their hands to themselves on the ship ride back to the Fire Nation. Once they had access to plush beds and little supervision, what little self-control they had evaporated.

Afterwards, Mai traced aimless patterns on Zuko’s bare back. He was laying on his stomach, head rested on his folded arms, eyes half-closed, watching her. She drew her pointed fingernail across his skin, light enough not to leave a mark. Up across his shoulders, skirting the claw marks she had dug into his flesh during the act, when she hadn’t been so gentle. 

“What are you thinking about?” he murmured.

I think I’m in love with you and I’m terrified.

“Nothing,” she answered. 

He smiled sleepily and pulled her down to him for a kiss.

This is inspired by episode 2, season 2 of the show ‘Yellowjackets’. If you have not heard of this, I will explain it to you: in 1996, an all-girl soccer team crashed into the wilderness during their flight to the finals. the team resorted to cannibalism after 9 months of being in the wilderness, becoming like a cult that fed the wilderness with rituals. I use this as inspiration for this ‘theory’, though it is 100% fictional.

The angels have been in heaven for millions of years, even before the creation of earth and everything life. Throughout time, the angels worshipped one god. And they would sacrifice the galaxy for that god.

When angels sin, they become fallen. They are traitors to god and to heaven itself. Punishment must be given to those who are deserving of it. Fallen angels go through a trial, where their wings are chopped and burned off. They no longer deserve their wings. Their fate is decided by the supreme arch angels (the messenger): be sent to hell or be hunted as a sacrifice.

Those hunted are given a head start as they try to escape the roaring arch angels following behind them. When they are caught, they are tied by their feet and hands to a thick branch and then brought back to the place of the ritual. The angels dress in fancy white gowns (like ancient Roman deities) while they prepare to sacrifice the fallen to their god.

The angels eat every single inch of flesh on the bodies, the skin discarded, and the organs thrown aside. God wants them to.

They cant waste anything. They have to eat it all. They drink the Fallen’s blood as if its wine, and their organs are eaten as a dessert. They must face the punishment of their actions. They are traitors. That is all they will ever be. There will be no mercy.

Nope now it’s at the point that i’m shocked that people off tt don’t know what’s going down. I have no reach but i’ll sum it up anyway.

SCOTUS is hearing on the constitutionality of the ban as tiktok and creators are arguing that it is a violation of our first amendment rights to free speech, freedom of the press and freedom to assemble.

SCOTUS: tiktok bad, big security concern because china bad!

Tiktok lawyers: if china is such a concern why are you singling us out? Why not SHEIN or temu which collect far more information and are less transparent with their users?

SCOTUS (out loud): well you see we don’t like how users are communicating with each other, it’s making them more anti-american and china could disseminate pro china propaganda (get it? They literally said they do not like how we Speak or how we Assemble. Independent journalists reach their audience on tt meaning they have Press they want to suppress)

Tiktok users: this is fucking bullshit i don’t want to lose this community what should we do? We don’t want to go to meta or x because they both lobbied congress to ban tiktok (free market capitalism amirite? Paying off your local congressmen to suppress the competition is totally what the free market is about) but nothing else is like TikTok

A few users: what about xiaohongshu? It’s the Chinese version of tiktok (not quite, douyin is the chinese tiktok but it’s primarily for younger users so xiaohongshu was chosen)

16 hours later:

Tiktok as a community has chosen to collectively migrate TO a chinese owned app that is purely in Chinese out of utter spite and contempt for meta/x and the gov that is backing them.

My fyp is a mix of “i would rather mail memes to my friends than ever return to instagram reels” and “i will xerox my data to xi jinping myself i do not care i share my ss# with 5 other people anyway” and “im just getting ready for my day with my chinese made coffee maker and my Chinese made blowdryer and my chinese made clothing and listening to a podcast on my chinese made phone and get in my car running on chinese manufactured microchips but logging into a chinese social media? Too much for our gov!” etc.

So the government was scared that tiktok was creating a sense of class consciousness and tried to kill it but by doing so they sent us all to xiaohongshu. And now? Oh it’s adorable seeing this gov-manufactured divide be crossed in such a way.

This is adorable and so not what they were expecting. Im sure they were expecting a reluctant return to reels and shorts to fill the void but tiktokers said fuck that, we will forge connections across the world. Who you tell me is my enemy i will make my friend. That’s pretty damn cool.
